la Fiesta de La Mercè
// September 21st, 2007 // barcelona
I finished my first week of school today (Mom & Dad: I went to almost all of my classes). This weekend will be really good because there are big parties everywhere. If you walk in the city center you can see the stages where they will play live music. All this is because of la Fiesta de La Mercè:
The Fiesta de la Mercé is held in Barcelona each year with all it’s associated events spread over a few days leading up to the 24th of September. La Mercé is one of the most important fiestas amongst a wide array on offer in Barcelona, as it honours the city’s most popular unofficial patron saint and protector, the Virgin of la Mercé. Looks like I picked the right date to visit Barcelona. A few people will leave tomorrow, so tonight we will have a big party in the apartment.

[...] we were pleasantly surprised by a big parade in our street. I made a short movie to show what La Mercè looks like. After the parade we went to see some live music and we ended up on a big outdoor MTV [...]
